1. There are approximately 12 million illegal aliens currently residing in the United States, many taking jobs from unemployed Americans. Will you oppose or support legislation that would grant any form of work authorization to illegal aliens?
A: Oppose – We should secure the borders first, i.e. Build a fence. After the border is secure, then we can discuss things like work visa and the like. We can build a fence. Israel can build a fence. North Korea can build a fence. The Iron Curtain was a fence. We can build a fence too. If you don’t know how to build a fence, ask me. I lived in what was then communist Czechoslovakia. I have seen a fence that works.
2. Each year the United States gives legal permanent residency (green cards) to another 1 million immigrants who often fill jobs at lower wages. Will you oppose or support legislation that would increase the overall number of immigrants (legal permanent residents/green card holders) admitted each year to the U.S.?
A: Oppose – After the border is secure, I could be persuaded to grant work permits and the like. We first need to know who is here in this country and what they are doing and how long they will stay. This should be done only after American unemployment is dealt with. We need to put Americans back to work first.
3. Despite growing welfare rolls and chronic youth joblessness, the United States admits over 700,000 guest workers annually to work in numerous professions. Will you oppose or support legislation that would increase the overall number of guest workers admitted each year to the U.S.?
A: Oppose – I would oppose increasing the guest worker program until we have dealt with the issue of American workers being out of work and having the southern border secure.
